LSU star Flau’jae Johnson celebrates 1,000,000 views on viral “Came out a beast” song with Lil Wayne
The offseason has been nothing short of legendary for Flau’jae Johnson. The LSU basketball star solidified her music career with a debut rap album on June 28. One of the biggest tracks on Johnson’s "Best of Both Worlds" album was "Came Out a Beast," with a feature from Lil Wayne.
The song is available on 11 streaming platforms and has reached one million views. A fan page posted the rapper's latest achievement by sharing an image of Johnson and Wayne on July 17. Johnson then reposted the image on her Instagram story to express her gratitude to all her listeners.
"1,000,000 THANK YOU FOR STREAMING I LOVE YOU ALL @spotify," Johnson quipped on her repost.
Flau’jae Johnson’s collaboration with Lil Wayne came when the rapper was in conversation with WNBA legend Sue Bird.
Johnson's LSU Tigers were in the thick of their 2023 NCAA championship run when Bird joked with Wayne about the timeline of his song with Johnson. Wayne promised that he would connect soon with the LSU star for a musical collaboration.
The next checkpoint in Johnson's rap career will be a music video with Lil Wayne, which the two rappers were seen shooting for in Los Angeles on July 10.
"Best of Both Worlds" resonates with Flau’jae Johnson's mindset
Johnson experimented a lot in her debut album, be it in terms of mixing, choice of flow or style of rap. However, one thing that came up consistently throughout the album was her passion for basketball and music and how she intends to live through the best of both worlds.
Flau’jae Johnson has previously claimed that she will shun her musical endeavors as soon as the women’s basketball season begins and will devote her energy to the court. She believes that the segregation between her dual-careers could be her key to sustaining successful multi-industrial profiles.
She backed her approach in a BET interview with former NFL star Cam Newton last week. The quarterback signaled his reservations about fostering two careers. In response, Johnson cited that almost everyone, including Newton, indulges in two full-time roles because of parenthood, which is enough motivation for her to pursue basketball and music at the same time.
