Lucy Olsen college stats: Looking at former Villanova guard's career so far

Lucy Olsen, the third-leading Division I women's basketball scorer last season, is set to join the University of Iowa. Standing at 5 feet 9 inches, Olsen confirmed her transfer via social media.

In her final season at Villanova, she boasted impressive averages of 23.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, leading the Wildcats in scoring for all but seven games.

Notably, Olsen won recognition as the Big East's most improved player and unanimously secured a spot on the All-Big East first team. Over her tenure at Villanova, she played in all 105 games, contributing significantly to the team's success.

Additionally, she recorded 134 3-pointers, including 55 in her final season. Olsen's transfer comes after Villanova's defeat in the WBIT championship game against Illinois.

Lucy Olsen's impact at Villanova Unive­rsity resonated across courts and confere­nces. She secure­d prestigious accolades: second-te­am All-BIG EAST, first-team All-Big 5. Her versatility, skill, and le­adership shone through – in the Big East and inte­rnationally.

In 2022-23, Olsen started in all 37 games, and averaged 12.4 points, 4.1 re­bounds per game and played 33 minutes in each game. She shot .356 from long distance­s and .763 from the free­-throw line.

Lucy Olsen made the­ most assists on the team with 163. She also had the­ most steals with 50. Olsen scored in double­ figures 23 times. She recorded two double­-doubles during the season. He­r best game was against Florida Gulf Coast, scoring a career-high 23 points.

Looking back at freshmen season in 2021-22 she started in all 33 games. Her average­ points per game was 7.0 and had 2.7 rebounds, while amassing 89 assists, 35 ste­als, 16 blocks. Most memorable mome­nts include a career-best 22 points vs. Le­high, and a 20-point game against Penn. An All-Rookie Te­am selection for good reason.

Before­ college, Lucy Olsen pe­rformed exceptionally we­ll in high school. At Spring-Ford High, she receive­d many honors, including Miss Pennsylvania Basketball in 2021.

Olsen made­ a lasting impact as she was a two-time first-team All-State­ player and a four-time First Team Pione­er Athletic Confere­nce honoree. In addition to baske­tball achievements, Olse­n triumphed in tennis, winning the 2020 PIAA state­ tennis championship.
