March Madness star DJ Burns has a "crazy" response to Armando Bacot's Duke Final Four confession

Armando Bacot's North Carolina Tar Heels took on cross-state rivals NC State Wolfpack thrice last season and posted a 2-1 record. While UNC's March Madness run was cut short at Sweet 16, the Wolfpack went all the way to the Final Four before losing to the Purdue Boilermakers.

During an appearance on the "Run Your Race" podcast, Bacot admitted that he was supporting Duke, UNC's main rival, as the Blue Devils took on NC State in the Elite Eight round.

“I can't stand NC State,” Bacot said. “I wanted Duke to win. I wanted Duke to go to the Final Four… because [I knew they were good enough to compete].
"NC State, they're never gonna let this go. They beat [North Carolina] in the [ACC] championship. Then, they beat Duke in the Elite Eight. And I blame Duke too. Because Duke shouldn't have lost to them in the ACC Tournament… You know it goes. When a team gets hot in March, they're hard to beat."

NC State's star player in the March Madness run, DJ Burns, replied to the segment posted on X. He wrote:

"Twin i’m ngl wanting Duke to win is a crazy statement bein main opp #1 😭 I appreciate the love tho fasho 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾."

Armando Bacot also gave a shout-out to Burns, who led the team from the front and gave it his all.

“Hats off to that man,” Bacot said. “Even for me, you look at all the other games versus Burns, we'd go at it, but he just had confidence that last game. It was a long night for me I ain't gonna lie. Shout out to DJ.”

Armando Bacot and DJ Burns sign non-guaranteed contracts with NBA teams

After going undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft in June, both Armando Bacot and DJ Burns have now signed to play for the Utah Jazz and Cleveland Cavaliers, respectively.

Bacot will join rival Duke's Kyle Filipowski in Utah on an Exhibit 10 contract. This means that he is signed for a year with a minimum salary. However, the Jazz could waive him at any point or could upgrade it to a two-way deal before the regular season begins.

DJ Burns, who had rumors of joining the NFL after his spectacular performance in March and April, was confirmed to have been signed by the Cavaliers as a free agent. He will play in the NBA Summer League.
