“Might be the hardest commitment ever”: College hoops fans excited as AJ Dybantsa teases college announcement with $20.03 billion worth company
High school sensation AJ Dybantsa left fans speculating about his commitment decision with his latest social media post. On Monday, Dybantsa took to his Instagram account to tease the announcement with billion-dollar energy drink company Red Bull being featured in the video.
In the 39-second reel, AJ Dybantsa and his father, Anicet Dybantsa Sr., are seen standing on a football field, and a radio message plays in the background:
"Coming up next after the break. AJ Dybantsa, what school will he pick?"
His dad then asks AJ how he forgot to carry the hat, to which he replies that he hadn't forgotten the hat. In a quick turn of events, a plane flies by with two skydivers draped in Red Bull logos. Once AJ Dybantsa gives them the go-ahead, they jump from the planes and upon landing, hand out four hats to the 17-year-old.
The four programs that Dybantsa is targeting are the Kansas Jayhawks, UNC Tar Heels, Alabama Crimson Tide, and BYU Cougars. These were the four hats shown in the video and the video ended with an abrupt fade. Fans in the comment section of the post have put forward their opinions on where they think the 6'9 swingman is headed:
"BYU students love Red Bull. BYU confirmed," one fan said.
"COME HOME," a UNC fan page wrote.
"I know a mascot that jumps outta planes like that…Go cougs," another user wrote.
"BAMAMAMSMAMA," an Alabama fan page said.
"He going to Kansas for sure," an Instagram user posted.
As more speculation came pouring in, some users were in awe of Dybantsa's unorthodox way of teasing his college recruitment.
"Nah this might be the hardest commitment ever," a user commented.
"Better prospect than Bron," another user said.
"This is hard bro," one user posted.
"Red Bull give you wings," Alabama guard Labaran Philon said.
"Hard," Northwestern-commit Jake West said.
Luckily for those in anticipation, they won't have to wait long as, Dybantsa shared on his Instagram that he would announce his decision on Tuesday, at 10:30 a.m. EST on Stephen A. Smith's First Take.
AJ Dybantsa is the No. 1 HS prospect for a reason
In his senior year of high school, Dybantsa is considered as the No. 1 recruit despite being in a stacked 2025 class that includes the likes of Cameron and Cayden Boozer as well as Darryn Peterson.
One of the major factors that has helped Dybantsa's reputation is that along with his success in high school, he has also shown his international prowess by winning a gold medal at the 2023 FIBA Americas U16 Championship, averaging 13.7 points per game throughout the whole tournament.
The high schooler transferred to Utah Prep in Hurricane, Utah for his final season of high school basketball. In just a few hours from now, fans and experts alike will know what decision the 6'9" small forward will take.
