MiLaysia Fulwiley stats today - How did South Carolina star fare vs NC State? (Nov 10)

MiLaysia Fulwiley was one of the top players in the South Carolina Gamecocks' comfortable 71-57 victory over the No. 9 NC State Wolfpack on Sunday. She made the most of her off-the-bench minutes in a rematch of last season's Final Four.

Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley subbed in MiLaysia Fulwiley for Bree Hall within the game's first four minutes. She scored her first points game with a driving layup with 2:38 to go in the first quarter to tie the game at 12-all. She then made one of two free throws with 1:31 to go, finishing the first quarter with three points.

Fulwiley then went off in the second quarter. She made four jumpers, including one from 3-point range, to help the Gamecocks build a six-point lead with less than two minutes left in the first half.

She continued her strong play in the second half, making a jumper in the paint in the third and two layups in the fourth quarter.

Before the start of the season, Staley spoke highly of Te-Hina Paopao, expressing excitement over her offseason development. In a game where her fellow starters struggled to tally points, the senior guard met her coach's expectations, producing a stellar shooting display at Charlotte.

Paopao finished as the Gamecocks' top scorer against the Wolfpack, scoring 23 points and recording three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Fellow starters Sania Feagin and Raven Johnson struggled with shooting but recorded eight and nine rebounds respectively.

Joyce Edwards, the No. 2 recruit in the Class of 2024, struggled to make an impression in her first start in college basketball, recording a team-high eight turnovers and eight points on nine shots. She had a game-high four steals.

Fulwiley’s 18 points marked the second-highest scoring total in the game. For comparison, NC State’s entire bench combined for 20 points.

The Gamecocks improved to 2-0 and will aim to keep their undefeated record intact in their home opener against Coppin State on Nov. 14.
