“My team feed off my energy”: Flau’jae Johnson helps LSU Lady Tigers change the trajectory of the game

LSU embarks on a new journey following their remarkable national championship victory. Flau’jae Johnson has emerged as a critical player for the LSU Tigers over the last two seasons. She consistently ranked among the top three scorers on the team.

In parallel with Johnson's rising star status, global sports brand PUMA has kicked off the first worldwide brand campaign in a decade titled:

“FOREVER. FASTER. – See The Game Like We Do.”

This campaign features PUMA Hoops athletes, including Johnson. With that, they released a reel on their official Instagram page. There they showcased Johnson in action on the court while sporting PUMA sneakers, with the video captioned "Big 4 changing the whole trajectory of the game with her energy."

In the clip, Johnson shared her thoughts on the game, saying:

"I think the energy makes me happy. It's nothing like the crowd going crazy, or the teammates going crazy for you. I think my energy has changed the whole trajectory of the game."

When discussing her influence on her teammates, Johnson added:

"My team feeds off my energy. I just got a high motor. It's about your creativity when it's raw. It's about not doing the same thing twice. Something that benefits everybody together."

This insight highlights her belief in the importance of energy and creativity in shaping the dynamics of the game and elevating her team's performance.

The newest phase of PUMA’s campaign aims to enhance the brand’s position within the basketball community. The brand has invited other prominent athletes to join the campaign as well. They include Breanna Stewart, Scoot Henderson, LaMelo Ball and the latest signee, Tyrese Haliburton. Each players will depict their own story.

In addition to being a standout Division 1 basketball player at LSU, the 21-year-old is also carving out a career as a rapper signed to Roc Nation. Recently, she celebrated her 21st birthday by performing alongside one of her musical idols, Lil' Wayne, on November 3.

In an Instagram post, Johnson revealed her excitement about the opportunity to perform in a “sold-out arena” with Lil' Wayne. The renowned rapper, 42, introduced her with, “No mother****ing introduction,” as she took over the stage.

Johnson expressed her gratitude for the experience, writing:

“THIS WAS THE BEST BDAY EVER. To New Orleans, Matter of Fact The Whole State Of Louisiana I Want To Say Thank You For Welcoming Me With Open Arms From Basketball To Music.”

She also expressed her deep respect for Lil' Wayne, stating:

“The Legacy You Have Paved Will Never Be Duplicated.”

The Georgia native is the daughter of the late rapper Camouflage. She appeared on the stage dressed in a stylish black crop top and baggy pants.

Meanwhile, with just under six minutes remaining in the first quarter, Johnson drained a three-pointer from the baseline. She finished the first quarter with 12 points, leading LSU to a commanding 95-44 victory over Eastern Kentucky.

By the end of the game, Johnson had a total of 25 points. She showcased her skills with a shooting performance of 10-for-15 from the field, 2-for-5 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 3-for-3 from the free-throw line.

The Tigers are set to compete again on Friday against Northwestern State at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC) at 7 p.m., with the game available for viewing on SEC Network+.
