NCAAB analyst claims to receive death threats from LSU fans for calling Caitlin Clark a better role model - “Always fakest tough guys who are loudest”

College basketball analyst David Hookstead recently invited the wrath of LSU fans on social media after pointing out why he felt Caitlin Clark was a better role model than the Tigers. He also called the Tigers' behavior "embarrassing" for their role in the brawl with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

His words led the LSU fanbase to fire back, with Hookstead claiming that some supporters sent him death threats. He posted on X, formerly Twitter:

"LSU fans are threatening to kill me because I think Caitlin Clark is a better role model than Kim Mulkey's team. Classy fans! It's always the fakest tough guys who are the loudest. Guarantee this guy didn't go to LSU and has never shot anyone."

He attached an audio clip he allegedly received from a fan, who graphically depicted the harm he would cause Hookstead.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey receives criticism for comments on South Carolina brawl

The fight between South Carolina and LSU had been brewing for the entirety of their encounter. Eventually, things reached a tipping point, with practically the entire squad getting involved. Six players were ejected and the game was delayed for 20 minutes.

The brawl was sparked when LSU's Flau’jae Johnson committed an intentional foul on South Carolina's MiLaysia Fulwiley and then bumped Ashlyn Watkins. In response, the Gamecocks' Kamilla Cardoso shoved Johnson to the floor.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey sparked controversy after the game when she said Cardoso should have targeted someone her own size, like Angel Reese.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley took a different approach, apologizing for her team's role in the incident.

Fans on social media sided with Staley and even outspoken analyst Shannon Sharpe took a shot at Mulkey for her comments on the situation.

Moreover, the fact that Angel Reese did not participate in the brawl despite being on the court also became a topic of conversation. However, basketball legend and LSU alumni Shaquille O'Neal felt Reese was justified in her actions.
