Nika Muhl tears ACL in an overseas game, UConn Huskies show support

Nika Muhl appeared in 16 games in her rookie season in the WNBA, averaging just 3.6 minutes per game. Looking to continue her development, Muhl signed with Besiktas, a Turkish professional team, during the WNBA offseason.

Muhl appeared in her first overseas game on Wednesday, Oct. 3, and suffered a torn ACL in the third quarter. The club announced Muhl's injury on X.

Muhl could miss the entirety of the 2025 WNBA season as she rehabs from her injury. Her UConn teammates showed their support with social media posts. Paige Bueckers posted to X to wish her former teammate a speedy recovery.

"Nothing my twin can't overcome," Bueckers posted with a picture of her hugging Muhl. "Gonna destroy this comeback journey. God Speed."

The UConn women's basketball account quoted Bueckers' post with two blue heart emojis to show support.

Muhl has since released a statement on Instagram, but no timetable has been revealed for her injury.
