Ta'Niya Latson's goal is to lead the Seminoles to a deep NCAA tournament run
Ta'Niya Latson was among the top scorers in women's college basketball circuit last season, averaging 21.4 points on 43.8% shooting. Even though she is the scoring leader of the early stretch, it is not on her checklist for the year.
Instead, Latson wants to be a more vocal leader on the court and lead the Seminoles to a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
"Staying consistent, I have a couple goals this year, just going deeper in the NCAA tournament, being more of a vocal leader for my teammates is very important this year for me and like I said, stay consistent," Ta'Niya Latson said at the ACC media day.
Latson said she worked on specific areas of her game this offseason to improve her scoring skills. She also emulated in-game situations to actively work on her leadership.
The junior is the biggest reason Seminoles began their season with a 10-2 run. However, Ta'Niya Latson is yet to face some of her biggest challenges this season as Seminoles are yet to play a ranked team.
The program will face Tar Heels on Jan. 25 as its first ranked contest, followed by NC State on Feb. 9. Seminoles finish their season play with back-to-back high profile games against Georgia Tech, Notre Dame and Duke.
