"OMG I'm finna cry this is so cute": Fans show love to Kim Mulkey interaction with WNBA star Dijonai Carrington

Basketball fans showed their appreciation as LSU coach Kim Mulkey shared a heartwarming moment with WNBA star Dijonai Carrington on Tuesday. The two reunited during LSU’s victory over Seton Hall in Connecticut. The No. 5 Tigers dominated the Pirates 91-64 in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase.

Mulkey, who coached at Baylor from 2000 to 2021, guided the program to three national championships. She also made history as the first NCAA basketball coach to win national titles as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

Carrington played her final collegiate year at Baylor under Mulkey, earning accolades like Big-12 Newcomer of the Year and Sixth Person of the Year, thanks to an average of 14.1 points and 4.9 rebounds. During that season, they achieved a 28-3 record, a No. 6 ranking and reached the Elite Eight.

The coach-player duo was all smiles as they reunited at Mohegan Sun Arena, where Carrington plays home games with the Connecticut Sun.

Fans celebrated the reunion on social media, responding enthusiastically to a collaborative post by the Connecticut Sun and LSU Women’s Basketball on Instagram.

LSU remains undefeated with a 13-0 record and leads the SEC. The Tigers will face Illinois Chicago on Thursday, marking a homecoming game for LSU star Aneesah Morrow.

Meanwhile, Carrington is set to compete in the debut season of Unrivaled, a three-on-three basketball tournament beginning January 17, 2025. She will play for the team Mist BC, coached by Phil Handy. Her teammates include Jewell Loyd, Courtney Vandersloot, Rickea Jackson, Aaliyah Edwards and Unrivaled founder Breanna Stewart.


Kim Mulkey's LSU stays undefeated with win over Seton Hall

No. 5 LSU cruised to a 91-64 victory over a short-handed Seton Hall on Tuesday, giving the Pirates their third loss in 11 games.

Aneesah Morrow shined with a dominant double-double, finishing with 24 points, 19 rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block. Morrow was efficient, shooting 8-of-13 from the field, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, and making 6-of-8 free throws in 35 minutes of play.

Mikaylah Williams contributed significantly for the Tigers, scoring 22 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out five assists. She also drained a game-high 6-of-11 three-pointers. Flau’jae Johnson also had a well-rounded performance with 17 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal.

Seton Hall relied heavily on two players for scoring. Faith Masonius led all scorers with 29 points, five rebounds and three steals, while Jada Eads added 20 points, four rebounds and two assists, hitting 4-of-12 from three-point range.

The evening also saw LSU assistant coach Seimone Augustus being honored with her Hall of Fame class jersey before the game. Augustus was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this past fall.
