Paige Bueckers left baffled at hilarious Azzi Fudd-Kaitlyn Chen moment between press conference
Azzi Fudd may not be available to play alongside Paige Bueckers in huskies" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">UConn's upcoming game against USC, but she found a way to keep the air positive in a humorous manner. It was certainly a lighthearted moment before a big matchup against one of the best teams in women's college basketball.
On Friday, when Bueckers was speaking to media in the pregame press conference, she was answering a question before stopping to see something outside the building.
"What?" Paige Bueckers said while being baffled by what she saw before resuming to answer questions from media.
According to CT Insider, what Bueckers saw outside was Fudd, performing a dance while being filmed by a teammate.
"Azzi Fudd was outside in the falling snow, holding a towel above her head and dancing as Kaitlyn Chen took a video of her from inside the lobby doors," Vanoni wrote.
"Moments later when Fudd tried to get back into the building, Chen pretended to not let her back in before eventually doing so."
Paige Bueckers emphasizes team effort over individual performance
A big matchup is heading Paige Bueckers and the Huskies' way when they face JuJu Watkins and No. 7 USC.
The headline of this game would be the battle between the two stars in Bueckers and Watkins, who both lead their respective teams in scoring. However, Bueckers is only focusing on an important aspect that will lead them to victory, not only against the Trojans but against all of their opponents.
"In a lot of the individual matchups, people come and tune in, maybe for that particular player, but they leave watching our team, falling in love with our team, and the way that we play, and how nobody's an individual on our team. Everybody, all egos aside, we just play team basketball, and there's a lot of players that you can fall in love with on our team," Bueckers said.
"Anybody could have 20 and it could be their night, as is shown this season. So that's definitely the message that I've always tried to voice, and we've always tried to voice, as a team, that we're a team, and no individual can win or lose the basketball game."
Bueckers is a key player on the Huskies' squad, leading the team in scoring with 20.6 points while providing 4.6 rebounds, four assists, and 2.1 steals per game. She shoots 58.4% from the field and 44.2% from beyond the arc, making her a must-watch player heading into the game Saturday night.
Following their matchup against No. 7 USC, Paige Bueckers and No. 4 UConn will finish up their 2024 slate with a game against Providence at the XL Center on Dec. 29 at 1:30 p.m. ET.
