Paige Bueckers keen to win her maiden NCAA championship
Paige Bueckers has etched her name as one of the most notable players in Huskies program history. After missing the 2022-23 season with an ACL injury, she came back strong in the 2023-24 season, helping the Huskies make the Final Four.
In 35 starts, Bueckers averaged 21.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.4 blocks. She earned unanimous First-Team All-American honors and won the Big East Player of the Year Award for her efforts.
Although Bueckers has shown her brilliance on several occasions, one title that has always eluded her is the national championship. Bueckers and the Huskies suffered heartbreak last season, narrowly losing 69-71 to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Final Four.
While Geno Auriemma has won 11 NCAA Tournament titles in 39 seasons as the Huskies' head coach, they haven't won college basketball's biggest prize since 2016.
Bueckers is touted as the top pick for next year's WNBA draft, indicating that the upcoming season could be her last with the Huskies. She is keen to end her college basketball career on a high, and signing off with the national championship would be the perfect end.
