Paige Bueckers and teammates gasp after UConn star’s goofy fall while greeting fans

"A fan caught UConn’s freshman, Morgan Cheli falling before running out 😆," the caption read.
"Stop. Morgan falling. I can't with this team," the fan wrote in the video.

Morgan Cheli was running out when she tripped over and fell. Jana El Alfy, Bueckers and Aubrey Griffin came right behind the freshman and watched in shock.

In the first two games with the Huskies, Morgan Cheli played an average of 14.5 minutes. She scored her highest against South Florida, finishing with six points and four rebounds. The 6-foot-2 guard has been described as the energy booster for the UConn roster.

“She’s a happy, ball of joy,” guard KK Arnold said. “Definitely brings energy.”

Commenting on her personality, Cheli said:

“I want to just be a positive influence on everybody and bring in energy. Whenever somebody’s down or just needs a boost of energy, I want to be able to give that. Just be helpful.”

UConn coach Geno Auriemma also praised the freshman for being authentic and a great player.

“It’s rare today, too,” Auriemma said. “Sometimes it’s fake and it’s pretend. But it comes from a natural play for her. It’s just the way she is, she’s got a great personality. So I’m anxious to see what she does when she gets more practice time.”

Paige Bueckers sets an example for her UConn teammates with her efficiency

In UConn's season opener against Boston University, Paige Bueckers finished with 13 points on a 5-of-9 shooting with seven assists and five steals. Against South Florida, she had 22 points on a 9-of-10 shooting.

With her increased efficiency on the court, Bueckers hopes to set an example for her teammates. In an on-court interview after the game with SNY's Chelsea Sherrod, the senior guard said:

"For me to be the team leader, me to want to show that, show the younger guys, show how we play here a UConn, it's everything that I want to do.
"I'm very picky with what I'm doing right now because I'm showing the younger guys what we're supposed to do here. And so I'm just trying to lead and be an example in that way."

After two wins, Paige Bueckers will lead the Huskies against North Carolina on Friday.
