“People fear us”: Duke’s Tyrese Proctor sets the tone for the team ahead of 2024-25 NCAAB season

Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster have taken former Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski's words to heart. The junior and the sophomore touched on their mindsets before entering the 2024-25 season on the "Brotherhood" podcast. One piece of advice "Coach K" gave the younguns was to have a dominating presence on the floor.

Moreover, Krzyzewski shared that the best feeling in basketball is when the opposing teams' fans clear out the arena even before the game is over. With that, Tyrese Proctor is inspired to set it as the standard of Duke basketball in the coming season.

"We gotta have that. I mean, we've spoken about this as well," Proctor said. "Just being that Duke team this year. We walk in the stadium and people fear us type of thing, we need to install that back into the (toughness). Picking up like nothing's gonna be easy, 40 minutes of just grinding and wearing people down."

Even though Jon Scheyer is the current coach of Duke's men's basketball program, Mike Krzyzewski, due to his legendary stature within the university, was also a participant in the Blue Devils' summer ventures.

Considered one of the best coaches to ever lead a program in college basketball, Krzyzewski is the winningest coach in Division I basketball. Moreover, he was also the brains behind extracting the best out of 2008 Team USA's "Redeem Team."

NCAAB insider predicts Tyrese Proctor in the starting lineup and leaves out Caleb Foster

Caleb Foster averaged 7.7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists last season while playing 25.4 minutes per game. Tyrese Proctor garnered averages of 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.7 assists under 31 minutes.

Both the guard’s inclusion on the roster not only improves the team on the court but also helps maintain the Blue Devils’ culture. However, college basketball insider Jon Rothstein believes that Foster will not be part of Jon Scheyer’s starting lineup next season.

The insider had attended one of Duke's practices this week and churned a prediction on his analysis. Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster are the only returning players from last year.

While Jon Scheyer has not shared the designation of team captain for the 2024-25 roster, it is assumed that one of the two will wear the prestigious cap.
