PHOTO: Arkansas HoFer Kareem Reid snapped with HC John Calipari after appearing at Razorbacks Fantasy Experience
Arkansas Razorbacks Hall of Famer Kareem Reid was among the top program names at the Bud Walton Arena as John Calipari addressed notable coaching names, former program players and NBA players for the Razorbacks' first Fantasy Experience.
Calipari dedicated a post for Reid as he arrived before the Razorbacks’ Fantasy dinner with participants and the staff.
"Arkansas Hall of Fame inductee Kareem Reid stopped by our Fantasy Experience dinner tonight! Well deserved induction this weekend for Kareem!" Calipari captioned the post.
Kareem Reid played at the point for Arkansas under legendary coach Nolan Richardson, who was also at the campus.
Sitting out the 1994 season due to an ACT score dispute, Reid had his freshman season in 1995-96, leading the program to a Sweet Sixteen appearance. He averaged 12.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.0 steals on nearly 40% shooting.
Even though his production dropped after the All-SEC Freshman Team induction, he earned 2nd Team conference honors as a sophomore, leading the Razorbacks to the NIT Final Four.
Kareem Reid churned out a balanced season from there on, averaging more than 10 points per game, being a top-five steals leader and a top-two assists leader in the SEC. He finished his college career with an all-time record of 748 assists and third place on the steals mantle, with 251.
What is John Calipari’s Razorbacks Fantasy Experience?
In an ultimate fan experience, John Calipari enabled 40 coaches and players to ball out on the court with him and his present Arkansas roster.
The concept revolves around Calipari’s camp for rec league hoopers, players above 30 and young coaches (at least 21 years old) being able to go head to head and to partner up with him.
Moreover, with added skills contests and evaluation games on the Razorbacks’ court, fans could also get significant time for conversation through a morning coffee and a tip-off dinner with John Calipari. The experience came with a fee of $2,500 and zero restrictions on prior playing experience.
Realizing early that the participants would mostly be Arkansas fans, Calipari invited plenty to Razorbacks greats on Thursday for the inaugural event.
Alongside Nolan Richardson and Calipari’s current assistant Ronnie Brewer, former program players Kamani Johnson, Michael Hogue and Isaiah Morris were present in the arena. Former NBA players Joe Johnson and Corey Beck were also snapped with Calipari.
