PIC: Gilbert Arenas’ ex-Laura Govan shares heartwarming snap with daughter Izela Arenas after Louisville WBB game
Gilbert Arenas' former partner, Laura Govan, was brimming with joy after their daughter, Izela Arenas, made her home debut for the Louisville Cardinals this Friday. Following the Cardinals' comfortable 75-51 victory over the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles, Govan spent some time with Izela at the KFC! Yum Center, taking a photo with her daughter.
Govan shared the picture on her Instagram story, along with a message for Izela, tagging both her daughter and the official Louisville Cardinals Instagram accounts.
"Hey Twinnnnnnnn... @louisvillewbb @izelaarenas," wrote Govan.
Govan has shared a special relationship with Izela while raising her and was there to watch her daughter make her college basketball debut against the UCLA Bruins in Paris.
During a recent appearance on Carlos King's "Reality With the King" podcast, Govan revealed how she dealt with questions about her ex, Gilbert Arenas, and how she raised Izela.
"I remember her telling me when she turned 18, she said, 'Okay, now that I'm 18, you have to tell me the truth,' bbecause I always used to tell her, 'I'll wait until you get older, I'll wait until you get 18 and then I'll tell you the truth,'" Govan said.
"She was like, 'I want to know' and we sat down. We had a lot of cries and a lot of laughs. And I don't share just the the bad, because that's not real, there's some good in there. I have to give them all of it."
Izela Arenas enjoys victory with the Cardinals on home debut
Izela Arenas, a four-star prospect ranked 88th in the Top 100 by espnW HoopGurlz, chose to play for the Louisville Cardinals, turning down offers from the Oregon Ducks, the Arizona Wildcats and the Iowa State Cyclones. She joined her Sierra Canyon teammate and five-star prospect Mackenly Rudolph on the team.
Arenas endured a difficult start to her college basketball career, as the Cardinals suffered a narrow 66-59 defeat to the UCLA Bruins, who are ranked fifth in AP's Top 25 women's college basketball poll. During that game, Arenas played just 10 minutes, contributing only a 3-pointer.
She saw more game time against the Screaming Eagles, finishing with seven points, three rebounds and an assist in 23 minutes of game time. Arenas and the Cardinals will look to keep momentum going as they travel to Martin, Tennessee to face the UT Martin Skyhawks on Monday.
