Rara Thomas lawsuit: Georgia WR receives massive verdict on cruelty to children, battery charges

Former Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Rara Thomas has been attempting to figure out his legal situation. Now, more information regarding his legal status has become available.

It is being reported that he was indicted by a grand jury last week on a felony count of cruelty to children in the second degree as well as two misdemeanor charges of battery/family violence.

While details from the police incident report were not released since the investigation involves a juvenile victim, this was the first time that the nature of the alleged crime has been revealed.

In the cruelty to children count, Thomas was charged with causing "cruel physical pain by hitting said victim while battering her mother," who was holding her.

In the one battery/family charge, it shows that Thomas intentionally caused a few injuries by punching the mother of the child in the face. These injuries include a bloody nose, bloody split lip, a scrape to her chin and bruising to her neck.

The other battery/family charge was intentionally causing a scrape to the forehead of the child.

Rara Thomas is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 16 and people will officially know his sentencing then.

When did Rara Thomas get dismissed by the Georgia Bulldogs?

Rara Thomas was expected to play a big role for the Georgia Bulldogs this season as a transfer from the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He was entering his second year in the program.

His first arrest happened in January 2023 for an incident with a female in a UGA dorm. He entered a pre-trial division program for one charge of battery/family violence and his charge of false imprisonment was dismissed.

Rara Thomas would spend four days in jail following his July 26 incident. This included the two misdemeanor charges of battery/family violence as well as a felony count of cruelty to children in the second degree.

He would have a meeting with Georgia Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart and be informed that he was being dismissed by the team.

Rara Thomas has played three seasons of college football and has recorded 85 receptions for 1,261 yards (14.8 yards per catch) and 13 receiving touchdowns for Mississippi State and Georgia.
