Raven Johnson stats tonight - How did South Carolina star fare vs Coppin State? (Nov 14)

Raven Johnson failed to score a single point in South Carolina's 92-60 win over Coppin State in their home opener on Thursday at Colonial Life Arena.

However, the 5-foot-8 junior guard picked up four rebounds, two assists and one steal in 15 minutes of action for the Gamecocks, who grabbed their third straight win in the 2024-25 college basketball season and 41st consecutive overall dating back to last season.

South Carolina coach Dawn Staley gave Raven Johnson the starting nod along with Te-Hina Paopao, Bree Hall, Sania Feagin and Chloe Kitts. She tried to get her game going, early in the first quarter, attempting a jumper but clanked the ring.

Johnson missed another jumper at 7:44, but grabbed an offensive rebound and subsequently missed a follow-up. The 2023 SEC All-Freshman Team Member focused on her defense late in the first period and she would grab two consecutive rebounds at the five-minute mark of the quarter.

She checked in the second quarter and grabbed a defensive rebound off a Coppin State miss with 4:44 left in the second frame. It led to a layup by Sania Feagin off a dish from Te-Hina Paopao, giving the Gamecocks a 33-20 lead.

Johnson then stole the ball from Khya Jenkins and passed to Joyce Edwards for an assist, giving South Carolina a 35-22 advantage with 3:08 left in the first half. The junior guard set up Bree Hall for a 3-pointer, putting the Gamecocks ahead 40-22.

Raven Johnson would start the third quarter but was subbed out at the 8:10 mark, in favor of MiLaysia Fulwiley. She sat out the following minutes as the game was already out of reach.
