Rob Wright shows love to former Baylor teammate VJ Edgecombe after his heartfelt farewell post
Rob Wright sent his well-wishes after Baylor Bears teammate VJ Edgecombe declared for the NBA draft on Sunday on Instagram with a heartfelt farewell video, drawing reactions from fellow hoopers.
Edgecombe captioned the video: "Every step I’ve taken, every sacrifice made—it all leads to this."
“First of all, I just want to thank everyone for coming out," he said. "This is where it all started for me. It is super important to represent Bimini, to represent the Bahamas. So with that being said, I'm declaring for the NBA draft.”
Edgecombe's post has garnered over 11,000 likes and almost 300 comments from fellow NCAA stars, his friends and fans. Among them was Rob Wright, his former Baylor Bears teammate. Wright wrote “4L,” likely meaning "For Life," with three love emojis.
Wright and Edgecombe were two of the most impressive freshmen in the NCAA last season. Wright put up 11.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg and 4.2 apg, while Edgecombe, the Big 12 Player of the Year, put up 15.0 ppg, 5.6 rpg and 3.2 apg per game.
Edgecombe, a 6-foot-5 guard, also impressed in the NCAA Tournament, scoring double figures in both games. But Baylor (20-15) was knocked out in the Round of 32 after an 89-66 loss to Duke.

Rob Wright and VJ Edgecombe impressed last season, but Baylor is now set to lose both of them.
Just last week, Wright signed with the BYU Cougars, citing a need for change. So, next season, he will be playing for a team that has highly rated recruits like AJ Dybantsa, Xavier Staton and Kanon Catchings.
Meanwhile, Edgecombe has made a potentially life-changing decision. At 19, he has shown that he can deliver a lot. He is athletic, quick, strong, and these qualities make him a good scorer and a top defender.
Of course, as is associated with most top players, he has great ball sense to make plays and create spaces for his team.
