“Sarah Strong will be the best player on the floor”: Basketball analyst sidelines Paige Bueckers and JuJu Watkins for UConn freshman
Basketball analyst Robin Lundberg shared an interesting take about Sarah Strong while discussing the UConn-USC matchup. Previewing the top-10 showdown on his YouTube channel, Lundberg predicted that the freshman would be the best player on the court come Saturday.
The highly anticipated matchup highlights two of college basketball's biggest stars, Paige Bueckers and JuJu Watkins. However, Lundberg believes that Strong might be the best player on the court and could overshadow both of these stars.
"Paige Bueckers. JuJu Watkins. Huge showdown in college basketball. UConn. USC. Doesn't really get much bigger than that. But my official prediction for UConn and USC is that Sarah Strong will be the best player on the floor. The freshman for UConn will separate herself," Lundberg said.
"I've seen Kiki Iriafen for USC and, you know, she's a nice player, but she doesn't have the extra dimensions that Strong does," he continued. "And Strong, I think, is the most talented player on UConn. Obviously, they also boast Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd who's been dealing with a minor injury, but overall I think UConn's talent base is superior to USC's, so I gotta pick the Huskies."
Sarah Strong making case for future stardom at UConn and beyond
It’s no surprise to see Sarah Strong’s name in the conversation for the best player on the court. She delivered a standout performance on Tuesday night, leading the UConn Huskies to a commanding 101-68 win over the Iowa State Cyclones.
The freshman star scored a career-high 29 points, grabbed nine rebounds and added four assists while shooting an impressive 55%.
Her stellar game included 12 points in the first half and an explosive 17-point third quarter, marking her 11th consecutive game scoring in double digits and her fourth game with more than 20 points.
Despite her impressive performance, Sarah Strong said she went through an adjustment period but has now overcome it.
"I think I’ve adjusted pretty well," Strong said. "In the first game, I was really nervous and excited to get started. Now, I feel more confident in myself and what I can do."
