SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey commends POTUS Donald Trump for "interest in college sports"

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey showed his appreciation for President of the United States Donald Trump. Sankey golfed with President Trump on Sunday and discussed the president's passion for sports with senior Athletic writer Chris Vannini.

"I've always appreciated his interest in college sports," Sankey said. "It was helpful for me and Pete [Bevacqua] to hear his thoughts, share ours. Those are best left for the moment on the golf course."

Trump recently highlighted his commitment to college sports, particularly the SEC, when he invited the national champion Florida basketball team to the White House. Reporter Talia Baia gave fans an insight look into the historic day.

Baia, an on-air reporter for the Gators, posted photos and videos from the team's visit to Washington DC on her Instagram. She shared a photo of herself in front of the White House, a video of Trump's speech to the basketball team with the players gathered around him and other pictures and clips.

Florida reporter Chris Harry also provided an inside look into the Gators' day with President Trump. On X, he showed the team touring the Capitol building, being welcomed to the White House with an acoustic rendition of "I Won't Back Down" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and meeting with Trump.

Trump welcomed the Gators to the White House with open arms, and Sankey is showing his gratitude for the president's interest in athletics.

President Trump isn't the only member of his family who has shown an interest in college athletics. His granddaughter Kai has committed to play golf at the University of Miami and featured former Miami women's basketball stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder in a vlog on her YouTube channel.

In the video from April, the Cavinder twins opened up to Trump about Hanna's split from Miami quarterback Carson Beck. Haley shared that her sister's ex-boyfriend was often on his phone using Snapchat.

"I went up to him. I said 'Stay off that Snapchat boy,'" Haley recalled. "Never cheat on my twin."

Trump responded by saying that Beck embarrassed himself, because he transferred to play at Miami because he was dating Hanna, and the pair is no longer together. Hanna explained that the couple called it quits before allegations of Beck's infidelity began circulating on social media.

In Trump's vlog, fans got to hear an honest evaluation of what happened between Miami star athletes Cavinder and Beck.
