"Shannon sharpe hoopin now?": College hoops fans react to 6’3” guard Christian Jeffrey averaging 17 ppg at Peach Jam
Fans reacted as Christian Jeffrey, four-star prospect in the class of 2025, made headlines in the last leg of EYBL’s Peach Jam on Sunday. Playing for the New Heights Lightning, the Mt. Zion Prep product averaged 17.0 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 55.7% from the field and 60.0% from the arc throughout six games.
With little to no hype around his game, Jeffrey became one of the 16th-best scorers at the Peach Jam. Moreover, his 55.7% field goal efficiency was ranked third among the top 17 players, while his 60.0% 3-point shooting topped them all, forcing @slam_hs to dedicate a brief montage following his performance.
Jeffrey's highlights garnered plenty of comments around his facial similarity to former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe:
"Shannon sharpe face ah," an enthusiast quipped.
"Shannon sharpe hoopin now?" another fan commented.
"Bro looks like shape," another follower reflected the same.
Moreover, fans also questioned Christian Jeffrey's age due to his football player-like build, making him stand out among fellow 17-year-olds:
"That is a 34 year old man," a fan wrote.
"He need to be in the TBT tourney," another follower sarcastically quipped.
"Relax yall going crazy in the comments with the young slime age. Young bull @_chrisjeff is 17 and has a late birthday. We just different in NYC and he was trained by the best @humbledevelopmentyouth . Get yall popcorn 🍿 ready cause he just starting to warm up. #thehumbleway #biggaurd #pro," a fan attempted to clarify on Jefferey's size.
