Hannah Hidalgo is a Player of the Year award frontrunner
Hannah Hidalgo has solidified herself as a notable offensive talent this season, helping Notre Dame to a 14-2 record and 5-0 in the ACC.
She is averaging 25.7 points (second in NCAA), leading top names like JuJu Watkins and Paige Bueckers, along with 6.0 rebounds, 4.1 steals and 3.7 assists per game. Per ESPNW, she leads the race for the Player of the Year award, ahead of Watkins, Bueckers and UCLA's Lauren Betts.
Hidalgo outperformed Watkins and Bueckers when Notre Dame faced USC in November and UConn in December. Her performance made the Fighting Irish the only team this season to defeat the Trojans and Huskies, which are considered two of the biggest contenders for the NCAA title.
Hidalgo also scored her 1,000th career point on Dec. 8, becoming the fastest player in program history to achieve the feat.
