“So much grace and positivity”: Mother CeCe praises Cayden’s humility amidst twin Cameron Boozer’s steep success
Cayden and Cameron Boozer have enjoyed successful high school basketball careers together. However, Cameron has emerged as the better player among them, as seen in their overall rankings among high school prospects in the nation.
Per 247Sports, Cameron Boozer is the second overall prospect in the Class of 2025, while Cayden is far behind him in 21st. While such differences in success could potentially drive a wedge between brothers, this is not the case with the Boozer twins according to their mother, CeCe.
Per Sports Illustrated, CeCe praised Cayden for his maturity, which is seen in the humility he has maintained during Cameron's meteoric rise in the high school basketball scene. She mentioned that Cayden has shown "so much grace and positivity" in dealing with Cameron's dizzying success while admitting the twins have always looked out for each other.
"The idea of ‘I am my brother’s keeper’ pretty much defines our family,” said CeCe. “That’s who they’ve been since they were born, blessed to be able to take care of their brother.
"They’ve fought for [their identity] their entire life. Even though they did everything together, I made sure that they were both allowed to be their own person."
Cayden, meanwhile, revealed how he has looked to improve himself while admitting he never thought of himself as being in his brother's shadow.
"I never really thought of it as 'I’m just the other brother,'" said Cayden. "I knew I was a good player and I’ve tried to become better each and every year. Thankfully, I’ve gotten a lot better since my freshman year and I’ve gotten the attention I didn’t get before."
Cayden and Cameron Boozer commit to Duke
On Friday, Cayden and Cameron Boozer made their college decision and announced they were committing to the Duke Blue Devils, following in their father Carlos Boozer's footsteps.
Carlos Boozer enjoyed a successful college basketball career with the Blue Devils, playing a key role in their national championship victory in 2001. After three seasons at Durham, the Cleveland Cavaliers made him a second-round pick in the 2002 NBA draft.
"I'm proud of them. They've worked their butts off for this moment," Carlos Boozer said ESPN. "Really excited that they took their time. Decided to play together in college, which is amazing. They both complement each other so well. They made the best decision for them. Me and Mom couldn't be any prouder. It's going to be a fun journey."
Should Cooper Flagg and Khaman Maluach, the top prospects of the program's 2024 class, choose to stay at Durham after their freshman season, the Blue Devils could become outright favorites for the 2026 national championship with the addition of Cayden and Cameron Boozer.
