South Carolina HC Dawn Staley compares Eagles vs. Buccaneers game to Alabama vs. Georgia Week 5 clash

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley, who led the Gamecocks to the national championship this year, shared her thoughts about the NFL matchup between Philadelphia and Tampa Bay on social media.

On Sunday, Staley made a tweet comparing the NFL game between the Eagles and Buccaneers to the college football showdown between Alabama and Georgia. She cheered for Philadelphia and Georgia in their respective contests but was disappointed that neither team was able to come away with a victory.

"Now watching my @Eagles is like watching the Georgia/Alabama game last night!" Staley tweeted with three weary face emojis.

The Eagles suffered their second loss of the season after Tampa Bay defeated them 33-16 at the Raymond James Stadium. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide continued its perfect start to the new campaign with a thrilling 41-34 win over the Bulldogs.

Kalen DeBoer's men led the first quarter 21-0 but Georgia bounced back in the last two quarters but was not enough to overcome the damage done.

"Thought I set my Saturday night up for a great game……it is but only for one team…Tide! Now I have to cheer for Georgia to make it a game. Chill yall Tide….I just want a great game!" Staley tweeted after Alabama dominated the first half.

Dawn Staley also shared her support for Colorado football team

Dawn Staley recently showed support for the University of Colorado football team and cornerback Travis Hunter following their win against Baylor (Week 4).

Hey @CUBuffsFootball….I need a Travis Hunter jersey asap! I ain’t hard to find! 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you in advance!" Staley wrote on X.

Some fans were not happy about her endorsement for other teams, given she is the Gamecocks' coach. Staley didn't hold back and reverted with a befitting response on X.

"I’m sorry I can’t like but one team in life? Keep clocking my post and I’m sure I’ll tweet about another team next week. I enjoy good games, good players and heck good players!" Staley tweeted in response to criticism.

Dawn Staley has been fully immersed in football, frequently tweeting about the games she's watching and engaging with fans in discussions. The basketball season is still a month away as they face Michigan in November to kickstart a new campaign.
