South Carolina’s Chloe Kitts shoots 2-word supportive message for Gamecocks hooper BF Collin Murray-Boyles post 91-88 win over Clemson
South Carolina women's basketball star Chloe Kitts hailed her boyfriend, Collin Murray-Boyles, for his outstanding performance in the Gamecocks' 91-88 overtime win over No. 25 Clemson inside the Colonial Life Arena on Tuesday night. Murray-Boyles had 22 points, nine rebounds and two blocks to lead USC to the upset victory.
Pitts shared a photo of Murray-Boyles that highlighted his stats on her Instagram story.
"Big dawgggg," she captioned the post.
The Gamecocks (8-3) are on a five-game winning streak.
Kitts herself has been on a roll for second-ranked USC (10-1), averaging 11.1 points, 8.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists. The Gamecocks junior is seeing more game time following the departure of Kamilla Cardoso to the WNBA.
Collin Murray-Boyles leads USC to upset over Clemson
USC sophomore guard Collin Murray-Boyles was the star of the showdown between the Gamecocks and Clemson Tigers (9-3) on Tuesday.
"“Really excited for the guys to have that kind of experience — great atmosphere,” USC coach Lamont Paris said after the game. “And then just to fight through all the adversity that we had ... we showed some real character in some of those moments, in regrouping and gathering to channel the right energy and the right focus that it took to win in that last extra five minutes.
“But this was fun. This is what college basketball is about.”
Clemson coach Brad Brownell was disappointed that his team lost, but he credited Murray-Boyles, who racked up 22 points and nine rebounds, for leading the Gamecocks to the win at the Tigers' expense.
The sophomore fouled out under a minute to go in overtime, but he already had the job done for USC to clinch the win.
"Certainly, the fouling was a problem for us at the end," Brownell said, according to ON3. "And, again, they just, they made one or two more plays. Collin Murray-Boyles down the stretch was probably the difference."
Clemson continued to fight back, shooting 9 of 11 across a stretch in the second half, but the Tigers ultimately fell short in overtime.
Up next, USC hopes to carry the momentum as it hosts Radford on Sunday.
