Texas vs. Notre Dame: Box score, stats, and summary feat. Hannah Hidalgo (Dec. 5)
In the SEC/ACC Challenge, we saw a classic game between some of the top programs in women’s college basketball as the 10th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish picked up an 80-70 overtime home victory over the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns. The Fighting Irish were led by Hannah Hidalgo scoring a game-high 30 points.
The Longhorns (7-1) are no longer undefeated as they were not able to do much throughout the overtime period. The Fighting Irish (6-2) remain undefeated inside Purcell Pavilion this season and were able to control the game despite not getting any offense out of their bench.

Texas vs. Notre Dame Game Summary
The Texas Longhorns played a decent brand of offense throughout this game as they were 27-of-73 (37.0%) from the floor, 8-of-24 (33.3%) from the 3-point line, and 8-of-11 (72.7%) from the free-throw line. The Longhorns dominated on the glass as the team had 46 total rebounds (19 offensive, 27 defensive).
The offense did a good job passing the basketball with 15 assists but also committed 23 turnovers as a team. Texas was able to score 24 points in the paint and 10 fast break points as well. With eight steals and four blocks on the defensive side of things, they fell just a bit short in this game.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were able to be a bit more aggressive and the shooting numbers show they were able to finish shooting 28-of-63 (44.4%) overall, 8-of-17 (47.1%) from beyond the arc, and 16-of-17 (94.1%) from the charity stripe. The team did a decent job rebounding as they had 37 total rebounds, including 29 defensive.
However, this six-woman rotation struggled with keeping possessions as they had 17 turnovers. Despite having few players in the rotation, the Fighting Irish recorded 34 points and 21 fast-break points. The 10-point victory was the largest lead throughout the game.
