“That baby just got blessed”: College hoops fans react to Paige Bueckers cute interaction with a young fan at South Florida game
UConn guard Paige Bueckers interacted with her youngest fan during the Huskies game on Sunday, and fans loved the heartfelt moment. The Huskies impressed the home crowd at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion with an 86-49 win in a non-conference clash with the South Florida Bulls.
The Huskies outscored the visitors in all quarters while also getting the edge on rebounds (35 to 27), assists (20 to nine) and steals (nine to two).
Paige Bueckers led all scorers with 22 points on an efficient 9-of-10 shooting, along with two 3-pointers, three rebounds and two steals. Aside from impressing on the court, Bueckers also delighted the crowd when she approached and tickled a baby with a pacifier and muffler:
"That baby just god blessed fr," tweeted by X user @ash_on_lime_st.
The senior Husky showed no signs of stopping down in this campaign. In the Huskies' opener against Boston University, Bueckers produced 13 points, four rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
Bueckers and the Huskies face North Carolina on Friday before going home for a game against FDU (November 20).
UConn will also head into the Baha Mar Women's Championship, facing first against Oregon State (November 25). If the Huskies go on to win against the Beavers, they will challenge the winner between Ole Miss and Boston College (Nov. 27).
Paige Bueckers takes leaps into her senior season
Now playing in her final year of college eligibility, Paige Bueckers hopes that she takes home the NCAA Division I Championship as she suits up for the Huskies for the last time.
'Paige Buckets' has been blessed by numerous accolades outside of UConn, securing gold medals in the U17 and U19 World Cups in Belarus and Thailand, respectively, as well as the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Argentina.
The closest that Bueckers went into March Madness was in the 2021-22 season, where they fell to South Carolina in the National Championship. Last year, the Huskies reached the Final Four, falling to Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bueckers had her best season last year, putting numbers in all statistical categories by tallying 21.9 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.4 blocks. Now, she looks to exceed those marks and end her college career on a high note.
