“The DYNASTY of DYNASTIES”: Dawn Staley hypes up US women's basketball team after historic 8th Olympic Gold
South Carolina coach Dawn Staley hyped up the US women's basketball team which won gold at the Paris Olympics on Sunday. Team USA narrowly beat France 67-66 in the final to clinch their eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal.
Staley tweeted about the USA women's basketball dominance at the Olympics after another record-setting campaign.
"That’s 8 in a row! The DYNASTY of DYNASTIES! @usabasketball #GOLDHABITS #GOLDSTANDARD," Staley tweeted.
For Team USA, A'ja Wilson produced 21 points and 13 rebounds in the final against France. Meanwhile, Kahleah Copper and Kelsey Plum played critical roles, each scoring 12 points off the bench.
On the other hand, Gabby Williams led France with 19 points. She came up a few feet short of tying the game at the buzzer. However, her feet were inside the three-point line as Team USA won the contest by the narrowest of margins.
It was the 40th gold medal for USA overall at the Paris Olympics. At the time of writing, the Americans are now tied with China for the most gold medals at this year's event.

Notably, Dawn Staley has played a key role in the team's dominance at the Olympics. She helped her country to three gold medals during her playing days and one as a coach.
Staley was part of the USA's Olympic team that won gold in 1996 at Atlanta, in 2000 at Sydney, and in 2004 at Athens.
In 2017, Staley was appointed as the US women's basketball head coach. She guided Team USA to the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and stepped down in 2021.
Notably, Staley was coaching Team USA while simultaneously serving as the head coach of South Carolina.
