"THIS IS SO CUTE": Iowa's Sydney Affolter reacts to teammate Lucy Olsen's heartfelt reunion with BF Grayson Herr
Iowa Hawkeyes guard Sydney Affolter showed her admiration for teammate Lucy Olsen’s reunion with boyfriend Grayson Herr. Affolter was in the comment section of a social media post on Sunday expressing her love for Olsen as she reunited with her partner.
Affolter and Olsen both play for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The 5-foot-11 Affolter joined Iowa in 2021 and played off the bench in the Hawkeyes' run to the final game of the 2023 NCAA tournament. Olsen transferred to Iowa in April after three seasons at Villanova, where she was ranked third in the country in her junior year after averaging 23.3 points.
Sydney Affolter commented on a TikTok post on Sunday gushing over a video of Lucy Olsen reuniting with boyfriend Grayson Herr.
"THIS IS SO CUTE," Affolter said
Olsen has been dating Grayson Herr since 2023 with their relationship widely known. Herr played basketball for the Trinity Tigers after joining in 2020 until 2024, earning a bachelor's degree in Mathematical Finance.
Lucy Olsen has averaged 18.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists while shooting 49.0% this season, leading the Hawkeyes in points and assists. Sydney Affolter has averaged 4.9 ppg, 7.1 rpg and 3.0 apg, while shooting 51.7%.
Lucy Olsen unable to save Iowa from first loss of the season
The No. 17-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes lost their first game of the season to Tennessee 78-68 on Saturday as Lucy Olsen's 23 points was unable to save the Hawkeyes.
Olsen was tied with Tennessee's Talaysia Cooper for most points in the game. Olsen put up three rebounds and five assists, as Addi O'Grady was the only other Iowa player to put up double digits with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Olsen showed no signs of rust in her first game after missing two games (Rhode Island and BYU) due to a knee laceration. Tennessee's defense proved too much for Iowa as it forced the Hawkeyes into 30 turnovers, resulting in 42 points for Tennessee. Iowa also had a bad shooting game from 3-point range putting up 3 of 14.
“The key to the game I thought was who was really going to be poised and I don’t think we had that at all,” Iowa coach Jan Jensen said. “We turned the ball over at that first beginning and gave them a lot of hope. You want to feel better, we have to make sure we rebound.”
Jensen took over from Lisa Bluder in May after she announced her retirement. Iowa will face No. 20 Iowa State Cyclones in the next game (on Wednesday).
