Top NBA trainer reveals prediction for Carmelo Anthony’s son Kiyan’s college decision; says his game mirrors his dad’s
The future of Kiyan Anthony is one of great interest to several college basketball fans in the nation. Amid raging speculation on where he could end up pursuing his college basketball career, NBA trainer Chris Brickley had his say on Kiyan's potential landing destination next year.
Brickley has been Kiyan's trainer since the fifth grade, watching him evolve into a talented shooting guard. During an appearance on the October 23 episode of the "Pardon My Take" podcast, Brickley admitted he sees Kiyan following in his father, Carmelo Anthony's footsteps and committing to Syracuse.
Brickley, who also trained LeBron James' elder son, Bronny, believed Kiyan mirrored his father's style of play better than Bronny mirrored his father's when asked to differentiate between the two star kids.
"Kiyan Anthony, yeah. I think he might go to Syracuse, too," said Brickley. "He's a top 30 player in the country, he's 6'6", 6'7" now. I've seen him from a little kid, now he's one of the top players in the country. He's gonna be really good."
Kiyan Anthony made an official visit to Syracuse last October
Kiyan Anthony emerged as a top shooting guard prospect during his high school basketball career at Long Island Lutheran. He is currently ranked the 34th overall prospect, sixth among shooting guards and the top prospect in New York in the Class of 2025 according to 247Sports.
Kiyan's incredible talent drew the attention of some of the best colleges in the country, with the teenager narrowing his list down to six on July 25. The list includes Rutgers, Ohio State, Auburn, USC, Florida State and his father's alma mater, Syracuse.
He made his first official visit on October 13, taking a trip to the Sunshine State to visit the Seminoles. He followed that up with an official visit to Syracuse on October 19, accompanied by his father and mother, La La Anthony.
While he has shown great interest in joining the Orange, he admitted his father has put no pressure on him to follow in his footsteps, leaving the decision on his choice of college entirely in his hands.
Kiyan also made an official visit to USC on September 26, teasing a potential commitment to the Trojans with an Instagram post just days later. Although Syracuse would be the favorite to land the talented shooting guard, nothing is certain until the pen is put to paper.
