“Tupac back”: UConn fans unite to help make Azzi Fudd’s decision easier
UConn's social media team continues to excite fans, and this time it revolves around the 2022 Big East All-Freshman, Azzi Fudd. The first look of the 2024-25 Huskies will come on November 3, when the program faces off against Fort Hays in an exhibition game.
In light of the same, UConn presented a fun challenge for fans. The program posted an image of Azzi Fudd in its latest post, citing that the guard is having trouble choosing her walk-out song for the opening night.
"Hii, this is Azzi. I can’t decide what song to walk out to for First Night. Please help! 😫," the post read.
Azzi Fudd suffered a right ACL and medial meniscal injury on November 14, 2023, ending her season with only two games for the Huskies.
As she makes strides in her recovery process this summer, plenty of fans suggested the song “Tupac Back” by Meek Mill and Rick Ross.
"Tupac back girly," a fan wrote.
"Tupac back. i feel like it’s a must," another fan commented.
"Tupac back the only right answer🤷🏽♀️," another fan wrote.
Although "Tupac Back" was the popular choice, a few fans recommended other songs, focusing on other parts of Azzi Fudd's journey and mindset.
"Upgrade you beyonce 🙂↕️ start at 1 min," a fan commented.
"Whichever song you choose have them mix it with the "She's back" line from Sexy Red at the beginning!!," another wrote.
"IM THAT GIRL - Beyonce," another fan commented.
Fans will have to wait for Azzi Fudd's intro walk
Even though Huskies are encouraging fans’ engagement around Fudd’s walkout moment, the guard will not take the court in the exhibition game on November 3.
During UConn’s first practice, Geno Auriemma shared that Fudd is not currently cleared to suit up for five on five plays. With that, the Huskies can be without Fudd for at least two weeks into the 2024-25 season.
"Certainly she won't be ready the first week of November or the second week of November, maybe," Auriemma said. "I don't know. We'll know more once she starts getting out there. But I would say before we get into the biggest, most important parts of our schedule."
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she's going to be with us during that time. She looks great. She feels great. She's confident. It's just the world we live in today, there's more of, 'Let's be cautious.' We've been through that scenario."
Nevertheless, Auriemma believes that out of all the injured players on the roster, Fudd might be the first one to make a comeback.
