UConn HC Dan Hurley's wife Andrea lovingly reacts to the Huskies celebrating him on National Coaches Day
The UConn Huskies celebrated Dan Hurley on National Coaches Day with a special gesture. The program's kind move melted Hurley's wife Andrea's heart, who took to social media to express her reaction.
The Huskies honored Hurley on National Coaches Day with a post on Instagram. The post highlighted his greatest accomplishments as Huskies head coach, captioning the post: "Happy National Coaches day to the best in the business."
Andrea Hurley showed love for the Huskies' gesture towards her husband, using the popular emoji of a heart with an arrow while reposting the Huskies' tribute to him on her Instagram story.
Andrea and Dan Hurley met during their college days at Seton Hall, with the Huskies coach admitting it was the best thing that happened to him at Seton Hall. Although Andrea admitted she doesn't have any interest in basketball, she has become a part of the Huskies family, giving her time to cheer for her husband and interact with his star-studded roster.
Andrea also hosts a podcast for the wives of college coaches. In 2021, Andrea launched the "Ball is Wife" podcast alongside Nicole Kellogg, the wife of current Creighton Bluejays assistant coach Derek Kellogg.
The Hurley family's involvement with the Huskies goes beyond Dan Hurley as head coach, as his son Andrew represented UConn under his father. He was part of the Huskies' rosters which won back-to-back national championships, and will assume a graduate manager role on the team.
Dan Hurley is one of the Huskies' most decorated coaches
Since taking over as head coach in 2018, Hurley has turned the Huskies into a serious force in men's college basketball. He led the Huskies to consecutive national championships in 2023 and 2024, making him the only coach in program history and the third in the last 40 years to achieve the feat.
In the 2023-24 season, Hurley's Huskies lost just thrice en route to a successful defense of their national championship. He was named the Big East Coach of the Year and the Naismith College Coach of the Year for his stellar efforts.
Hurley rejected a blockbuster offer from the Los Angeles Lakers during the offseason to stay put, signing a 6-year contract worth $50 million with the Huskies. He will look to achieve a rare three-peat in the upcoming season, with the Huskies beginning their defense on November 6 with a home game against the Sacred Heart Pioneers.
