UConn star Paige Bueckers has a fired-up reaction to LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant stealing a big win against Serbia
Steph Curry and Team USA went through their olympics-basketball-august-8th" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-is-sponsored="false">most competitive game of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the semi-finals. Since the tip-off, Serbia controlled the game with an early lead behind the USA's poor shooting. Until the takeover by LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Curry and Joel Embiid, it seemed like the US team would be playing in the bronze medal game next.
However, Team USA climbed a 15-point deficit in the last 11 minutes of the game, narrowly transitioning to the gold medal game with a 95-91 victory. Like numerous basketball fans, the match prompted Paige Bueckers to highlight her post-game emotions on social media, as she reposted images from Sports Center and the Golden State Warriors' Instagram account on her story.
"Mannnnnn," Paige Bueckers wrote on her Warriors repost featuring Steph's on-court images with James and KD.
"My goats," Bueckers quipped in a follow-up Sports Center repost highlighting the emotional exchange between the three basketball legends after the win.
Bueckers has been consistently making time for the States' basketball ventures in the Olympics.
Be it 3x3 basketball, the women's roster or the men's squad, Bueckers has kept up with the schedule-altering timeline of the games and managed to make her fans a part of the journey.
Steph Curry gave the biggest individual performance on Team USA so far
The US side struggled early, enabling Nikola Jokic and Serbia to mount a 31-20 first-quarter lead. 17 of those USA points came off Steph Curry as he remained a consistent source of offense throughout the entire game.
Steph Curry ended up with a game-high 36 points while making 12 of his 19 shots. His nine three-pointers stand as the second-best in Team USA history, with Carmelo Anthony's 10 in 2012 at the top. Moreover, as the roster found its stride in the last quarter, Curry scored seven of the team's last 11 points, including the game-sealing free throws.
However, other key moments in the thrilling showdown came through LeBron James' triple-double. The 39-year-old displayed an unwavering mindset in the most intense Team USA Olympics game by assuming the role of the point, finding open Steph Curry, making the right reads and defending the paint.
Moreover, Joel Embiid slowed down Jokic in the second half with more aggression toward the 2023-2024 MVP on both ends of the floor. Soon, the Serbian center was involved in Kevin Durant's 4-point play, a shot that helped change the course of the entire game.
