USC guard JuJu Watkins mesmerized by "unreal" A'ja Wilson stats, drops her reaction in latest IG post
Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson has been turning heads with her remarkable run of form that has seen her notch a double-double in six of her last seven WNBA games. Most recently, she registered 36 points, 12 rebounds and six steals in her team's 95-81 win over the Dallas Wings on Thursday.
Popular USC Trojans star JuJu Watkins was one of several stars who took notice of Wilson's impressive start to the season. The ever-supportive Watkins reposted the Aces star's stat sheet on her Instagram story with her reaction:
"Unreal," she wrote.
A'Ja Wilson continues her historical WNBA season
Wilson is having a historic start to the 2024 season, averaging 27.9 points, 12.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals. Furthermore, she is the first player to ever have an average of 25+ points and 10+ rebounds over seven games to start the season, with the longest such run going for four games.
During the game against the Dallas Wings, Wilson became the first player in the history of the league to register 35 points, 10 rebounds and five steals in a game. She also became the only player to have 35+ points and five steals in more than one game.
A'ja Wilson joined a stellar cast of WNBA legends after notching her 10th career game, registering 30 points and 10 rebounds, alongside only Brittney Griner, Lauren Jackson, Candace Parker, Breanna Stewart, Tina Charles and Lisa Leslie.
Aces coach Becky Hammon praised her popular star player during her postgame news conference:
“Do we have to pound that point? I mean, she’s the best in the world,” Hammon said.
Hammon was not the only one singing Wilson's praises. Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green stated on "The Draymond Green Show" that the Aces star was the most marketable player in the WNBA, and not Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark:
"I'm not saying Caitlin Clark is the best thing since sliced bread, quite frankly. If you want my opinion, that's A'ja Wilson. If you want my honest opinion, best thing since sliced bread in the WNBA, to me, is A'ja Wilson," Green said.
"I think A'ja Wilson is as marketable as anybody in the WNBA, but you have to figure out how to market the product... So, yeah I'm not going to sit up here and act like Caitlin Clark ain't done nothing for the WNBA. That's bulls--t. Yes she has. She's going to continue to.
"No, I'm not of the assumption it's only her. I think y'all got a gold mine in the WNBA sitting right there, marketable as anybody in A'Ja Wilson and haven't figured out how to make it go."
(from 52:00 mark)
A'ja Wilson is hoping to lead her team to a three-peat of WNBA championship wins and become the first team to do it since the Houston Comets did it between 1997 and 2000.
The Las Vegas Aces (5-3) face the Los Angeles Sparks (3-7) next at Crypto.com Arena on Sunday.
