“Use your voice”: Iowa’s Jada Gyamfi issues plea to Americans for casting their votes
The United States general election will be impactful for millions of Americans, and Iowa junior forward Jada Gyamfi wants to make that clear to those participating on Tuesday.
With Tuesday being election day, much of the U.S. will be choosing between the Republican nominee and former President Donald Trump and the Democratic nominee and current Vice President Kamala Harris.
With many polls indicating that the race between the two will be close, it can be viewed as imperative for voters to make a clear choice on who should be the president for the next four years.
This is especially the case for Iowa forward Jada Gyamfi, who revealed with a story post on Instagram that she submitted her vote earlier on Tuesday as she expressed a message to those who have yet to participate in the election.
"Use your voice & exercise your right," Gyamfi said.
Jada Gyamfi's time with Iowa, expectations for the 2024-25 season
Jada Gyamfi has spent two seasons with the Iowa Hawkeyes, having a reserve role as she got to experience her star teammate Caitlin Clark leading the program to back-to-back appearances in the national championship of the NCAA Tournament. The team lost both games, as Clark went on to be selected by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA draft.
Last season saw Gyamfi appear in 20 games, only being on the court for 81 minutes total. Six games had her play over five minutes, with her best performance coming against Bowling Green in December, when she scored a career-high seven points.
Gyamfi and the Hawkeyes will begin a new era without Clark, tipping off their season against Northern Illinois on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
