VJ Edgecombe and the No. 17 Baylor Bears preserved their unbeaten record at home this season, beating unranked New Orleans Privateers 91-60 at the Foster Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon.
Four players scored in double-figures for the Bears, who improved their home slate to 3-0 and their overall record to 5-2.
Baylor crushed New Orleans despite a low-scoring performance from Edgecombe. He finished the game with two points, two rebounds, one steal and one block. He shot 1-of-4 from the field and missed both of his attempts from beyond the arc.

What happened to Edgecombe in the game vs New Orleans?
Edgecombe's offensive woes could be attributed to the hamstring injury he picked up during the game against New Orleans. He played just 11 minutes as a result and sat out the second half of the contest as a precaution.
Edgecombe entered the game in fine form, averaging 12.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists per contest. He also showed his value on the defensive end, averaging 2.3 steals and 1.7 blocks through Baylor's first six games.
Fortunately for the Bears, their other starters picked up the slack in Edgecombe's absence. Jayden Nunn led the team in scoring with a game-high 23 points, going 7-of-10 from the 3-point area.
Jeremy Roach finished with 17 points and eight assists, while Norchad Omier posted a double-double, scoring 12 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Robert Wright III provided some much-needed offense off the bench, scoring 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.

Baylor will next face No. 2 UConn on the road on Wednesday in a marquee nonconference matchup in Storrs.
The Huskies are coming off a poor showing at the Maui Invitational, finishing the tournament in last place after losing all of their games against the Memphis Tigers, Colorado Buffaloes and the Dayton Flyers.
