Flau'jae Johnson is arguably the face of the LSU women's basketball program today. Besides excelling on the court, Johnson is also a fan-favorite at Baton Rouge, amassing a massive fan following during the course of her college basketball career.
An example of this was seen at the Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago, where the Tigers faced the UIC Flames. Following a comfortable 91-73 victory for Kim Mulkey's side, Johnson stayed back on the court to sign some autographs for her fans, which were not small in number by any stretch of the imagination.
Earlier today, Johnson's mother, Kia Brooks, shared one such interaction she had with a young fan. During their conversation, the fan revealed that she was not allowed to bring a poster she made for Johnson into the arena, which left Johnson slightly upset. The fan also revealed that the poster was themed around her hit single, 'Came Out a Beast'.
Prior to the interaction, Brooks revealed that Johnson signed the fan's Puma sneakers in a short caption at the bottom of her Instagram story.
"They wouldn't let her bring her sign in. But she got her sneakers in for an autograph. Lol," wrote Brooks.
Flau'jae Johnson shines in LSU's first win on the road
Flau'jae Johnson continued her electric start to the 2024-25 season, leading the Tigers from the front in their convincing win over the Flames. She recorded an impressive double-double, finishing as the Tigers' top scorer with 23 points and complementing it with 11 rebounds, three assists and a steal.
Aneesah Morrow backed Johnson up with her 12th double-double of the season, finishing with 19 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and four steals in a memorable homecoming for the senior forward. Mikaylah Williams, the 2024 SEC Freshman of the Year, was the only player apart from Johnson and Morrow to score in double-digits, finishing with 17 points, two rebounds and seven assists.
The Tigers extended their perfect start to the season, with their record now standing at a comprehensive 14-0. Despite their impressive start, they dropped a place to fifth in the latest update of AP's Top 25, with Notre Dame breaking into the top-five for the first time this season following their impressive victory over UConn last Thursday.
