WATCH: $5 million worth Caitlin Clark heartwarmingly reunites with 14-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes fan who survived cancer ahead of Fever vs. Aces game
It was only last season when Caitlin Clark was busy breaking records and taking women's basketball to new heights while at Iowa. She was almost unbeatable on the court, receiving immense love from fans and pundits alike.
Even though Clark has now moved on to the world of professional basketball, Iowa remains close to her heart. She was recently spotted sharing a heartwarming moment with a Hawkeye fan who survived cancer before the game against the Las Vegas Aces. The gesture from Clark was truly special and would not be forgotten in a jiffy.
The cancer survivor, Bailey Lux, was being treated at the Iowa Univerisity Hospital and used to attend Iowa games to watch Clark in action. The reunion has generated quite a buzz:
Former college phenom Clark is displaying the same energy in the WNBA. She recently starred in Fever's win (88-82) against Diana Taurasi's Mercury. She scored 15 points in the game and was later praised by Taurasi herself.
"It's amazing. What Caitlin's been able to do in her short career so far has been nothing short of remarkable," said Taurasi. "The one thing that I really love about her ... she's put the work in."
The Naismith Player of the Year 2024 has started every game for the Fever so far and has averaged 16.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, and 6.9 apg while shooting 39.4%. From the foul line, she has shot 88.0% and 34.6% from the 3-point line.
Incredible as those numbers may seem, she is still settling at the Fever and slowing pacing up in her WNBA career.
Caitlin Clark reunites with Kate Martin in Las Vegas
Caitlin Clark travelled to Las Vegas for the match against Aces where she reunited with her former Iowa teammate Kate Martin. The two posed for a picture which also featured Megan Gustafson.
They were hosted by Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino's President and General Manager, Cami Christensen, who also featured in the picture posted by Lisa Bluder on Instagram.
"Thank you, Cami for hosting us at the Westgate casino and resort!," wrote Bluder in the caption.
Caitlin Clark has been the face of women's basketball on and off the court, and will surely play a role in the evolution of the WNBA in this decade.
