WATCH: Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson dons GF Haley Cavinder’s Miami jersey ahead of clash against Philadelphia Eagles
Haley Cavinder is back in Miami for her final college season with her twin, Hanna. The guard led the Hurricanes to a 78-53 win over Stetson on November 4 and finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
On Sunday, Haley Cavinder got a special shout-out from boyfriend Jake Ferguson, who wore her No. 14 jersey before the Dallas Cowboys' game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Cowboys shared a video of the tight end in the jersey, walking up to the locker room on X with the caption:
"Ferg knows ball."
The Miami Hurricanes then shared the tweet on their Instagram story and wrote:
"Knower of Ball."
Rumors of Haley Cavinder dating Jake Ferguson began in June last year, and the couple confirmed their relationship in September. They celebrated their first anniversary two months ago with Ferguson getting the guard's initials tattooed on his ring finger.
Cavinder revealed in an interview that the two began dating after their initial link-up on Instagram.
"He DM’d me," she said. "He likes to say I DM’d him, but I didn’t. I was in Fort Lauderdale at the time. He has a place in Florida as well, and we went on a date and just kinda met up — and then hung out for 10 days straight."
Haley Cavinder reveals the reason for choosing Miami for her final season return
After her senior year with the Hurricanes, Haley Cavinder chose to focus on her business and other ventures. However, love for the game remained, and she chose to return to the NCAA and enter the transfer portal. She chose TCU in November 2023 and began training with the Horned Frogs.
However, in April, Haley entered the portal again, this time choosing Miami. Her twin, Hanna, also choosing to return to Coral Gables, was one of the reasons behind this and she explained more in an interview with For the Win.
“I have a great relationship with them (coaching staff) and always have with Coach Fitz (assistant Fitzroy Anthony), and that’s what kind of led me back to Miami," Cavinder said. "And, honestly, just playing my fifth year with my twin sister.
"I think, looking back, if I was older and didn’t choose to do that, I would have a lot of regrets. And that’s just a decision that was very easy, just because I’ve played basketball with my twin my whole life. "
Cavinder has been named on the Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 Watch List and will lead Miami next against Jacksonville on Monday.
