WATCH: Duke’s Jared McCain rolls other prospects in for fun-filled TikTok videos during the 2024 NBA draft
Aside from being a basketball player, Jared McCain is known as a content creator. The shooting guard was a popular figure for his dance videos on TikTok before he arrived at Duke. He took the vibes to the 2024 NBA Draft event in Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday.
Ahead of the event, McCain invited other draft prospects to join him in entertaining videos for his TikTok. He made a couple of videos featuring a host of players who were dressed and waiting to be drafted into the NBA at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
The moment the guard was taking those TikTok videos was captured and posted on the NBA's official Instagram account a few hours before the draft event. It shows the player's commitment to content creation despite being a talented basketball player.
When was Jared McCain drafted?
Jared McCain was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 16th overall pick on Wednesday night in the 2024 NBA Draft. This is practically around where most mock drafts placed him, as he was projected to narrowly miss out on being a lottery pick after he decided not to return to Duke.
McCain was a consensus five-star prospect in the class of 2023 and had a host of offers, including Gonzaga, Kansas and Houston. He was widely projected to be a one-and-done talent before his time with the Blue Devils and went on to live up to the hype of the program.
In his single season at Durham, he started all 36 games he appeared in, averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists. He was named in the ACC All-Rookie team, showcasing his importance on the court for the Blue Devils before deciding to go pro.
Content creation continues in The NBA
Jared McCain is now in the NBA, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will give up his passion for content creation. It is anticipated that it will only intensify on the professional stage. The shooting guard is expected to keep on creating vibes on TikTok while he competes for the 76ers.
Without a doubt, the NBA gives him a platform to be more popular on social media. His videos can more easily go viral beyond the United States, as the league commands a larger, global audience compared to college basketball's primarily American following.
