WATCH: Iowa's Jada Gyamfi, Lucy Olsen, Kylie Feuerbach and more shout and cheer while watching the squad's hype video
Iowa Hawkeyes are all set for the new season with Lucy Olsen, Kylie Feuerbach and Sydney Affolter at the forefront. The team underwent major changes in the offseason and will be navigating a new era of Hawkeyes history.
The team posted a video of the excited players reacting to their hype video to Instagram on Wednesday.
"The intro. 4:30 pm CT. 😎," the caption read.
Star transfer Lucy Olsen was holding hands with her seatmate as she watched the video. Meanwhile, Jada Gyamfi, who was seated to Olsen's left, let out a shout at one point in the video. She was later joined by the rest of her teammates, who cheered loudly at a couple of points during the video.
With the departure of Caitlin Clark and the rest of the experienced senior class, which drew the most attention, there were doubts about how the team would draw its huge crowds again.
However, it was announced earlier this month that the Hawkeyes had sold out their season tickets for a second consecutive season and they will be playing in front of a full house at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
"It meant a lot," Stuelke said during Big Ten Media Days earlier this month, per Hawk Central. "It just showed how much Iowa supports women's basketball. Even though Caitlin is gone, they're still going to show up and do everything that they can to support us. That speaks, for sure."
Lucy Olsen shares her gameplan for the new season
After three years with the Villanova Wildcats, Lucy Olsen will be playing her senior year at Iowa. Last season, Olsen averaged 23.3 points (third in the country), 4.8 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.9 steals.
She was brought in as the main replacement for Caitlin Clark in scoring. However, the two guards have very different playing styles.
“Caitlin Clark was amazing,” Olsen said per Hawkeye Nation earlier this month. “She's playing so well, and her skill set is also very unique. I'm not going to shoot really deep threes. I feel my game is more mid-range, and I’m going to try to work my butt off in anything I can to help us out.”
Lucy Olsen has been added to the Naismith Player of the Year watchlist and Iowa coach Jan Jensen is excited to see her play.
“It's not the normal cast of characters, and that point guard position is going to be played a lot different,” Jensen said. “(Olsen) doesn't shoot it from Kinnick (Stadium). She shoots it from the normal 3-point line.
"She can pass it, but she's not going to maybe make that three-quarter length pass. And when she shoots, a lot of them are going to be in that mid-range area. So I think there's a fun style to her play that's exciting to watch, because it's all crafty.”
The Iowa Hawkeyes will begin their season on Nov. 6 against Northern Illinois.
