WATCH: Iowa star Jada Gyamfi reveals why she wants to be a teacher
Iowa star Jada Gyamfi enters her junior year this coming basketball season. She was an integral part of Lisa Bluder's squad that finished runner-up in the NCAA tournament last campaign. Under new coach Jan Jensen, the Johnston, Iowa, native is widely expected to build upon her sophomore season, where she averaged 1.4 points per game without starting in any.
Apart from basketball, Jada Gyamfi also runs a podcast, "Fresh Tawk," at Taco-Bout Network. In this week's episode, the 6-foot-1 wing answered questions from her TikTok.
One question that captivated her most was when a fan asked Jada what made her want to be a teacher.
"I love this question," Jada said. "I've always wanted to do a job where I can directly impact the youth and be a mentor or a person that people look up to, just because when I was growing up, I feel like I had so many great people in my life to help me guide me through everything.
"So, I've always wanted to give back to the community in that way," she continued. "Athletes are always like, 'Who is your favorite teacher?' and they always remember one. I would love to be that just for one kid. That would make my whole entire life."

Jada Gyamfi has played two seasons of college basketball. She hopes to be a great help to the freshmen and young players on the team with her experience playing alongside players like Caitlin Clark, Kate Martin and Gabbie Marshall.
During Iowa media day earlier this month, Gyamfi spoke with Quad-City Times about her role and what she hopes to bring to the team this upcoming season.
"I think I focused a lot on how I can help the team in general and I think with losing Kate as a vocal leader, that's one thing I've really focused on is bringing my voice and that in turn gives me more confidence cause it's always been one area where I've kind of struggled," Gyamfi said.
Iowa landed senior transfer Lucy Olsen from Villanova alongside five freshmen: Taylor Stremlow, Callie Levin, Aaliyah Guyton, Teagan Mallegni and Ava Heiden. Last season's breakout star Hannah Stuelke is also back for her sophomore year.
