WATCH: Kentucky coach Mark Pope treats fans to free ice cream after win over Georgia State and quells on-court chaos
What better way to treat fans after having them witness entertaining basketball? Giving them ice cream of course, and Mark Pope certainly thinks so.
On Nov. 29, the No. 8 Kentucky men's basketball team cruised to a 105-76 victory over the Georgia State Panthers. They have now won their seventh straight game to start the season on a high.
Pope would usually stick around after the postgame radio show to sign autographs with fans. However, he was not able to do that on Friday so instead, he found a solution to appease the Kentucky faithful.
He decided to leave his credit card at the Rupp Arena's ice cream stand, paying for everyone to purchase as much as they wished before making their way out.
Pope made sure to thank the fans for attending the game while promoting the ice cream at the arena as the "best ice cream in the world."
“The word on the street is, here in Rupp Arena, we have the best ice cream in the world. So, Mrs. Lee Anne dropped her credit card off at the ice cream stand right up here, so it’s on me tonight. Go help yourselves. Get some ice cream on the way out. Enjoy it, and thank you guys for coming here. Let’s go Cats,” Pope said.
