Kiyan Anthony commit getting ready for Syracuse after high school

Kiyan Anthony made the huge decision to commit to the Syracuse Orange earlier in November. Currently, in his senior year of high school, he will follow in the footsteps of his father, Carmelo Anthony.

Carmelo played one season with the Orange, leading the program to a national championship before he went on to be drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the 2003 NBA Draft. He played 19 seasons in the league before retiring in 2023, ending his career as one of the best scorers in league history.

Kiyan is aware of the Syracuse connection, but he is determined to create his own path to becoming a basketball star once his high school career ends.

“I feel like a part of it was obviously the connection that my dad went there. But mostly just how they could see me fitting in there and recruiting me for myself and not just who he was. He did big things there, but I’m my own player, and I’m trying to do bigger things when it comes to basketball,” Kiyan said.

Kiyan is in his senior year at Long Island Lutheran High School. He also plays AAU basketball with Team Melo, sponsored by his father Carmelo. In the 2024 Nike EYBL, he averaged 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, having high-scoring performances of 29 points against Team Final and 28 points against the Houston Hoops.

According to 247Sports, Kiyan Anthony is a four-star prospect with a 95 rating. He is listed as the best player in the state of New York, sixth at the shooting guard position, and 34th in the Class of 2025. Other recruiting outlets also regard him as a four-star player.
