La La Anthony reveals why she has still kept her ex-husband's last name

La La Anthony was married to Kiyan Anthony's father, Carmelo Anthony, for 11 years. The couple tied the knot in 2010 after seven years of dating before divorcing in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences.

Through the separation and co-parenting, La La Anthony has been a constant presence in Kiyan's life and it is for him that she has still kept her married name. During a panel appearance for Fanatics Fest in August, La La was talking about her son and his trajectory into the NBA when moderator Taylor Rooks said (via PageSix.com):

“The moment of being able to buy Kiyan’s NBA jersey will be crazy.”

Anthony explained:

“That’s why I haven’t changed my last name yet. I’m gonna keep it around for a little while!”

While she has been Carmelo's biggest supporter throughout his time with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks, Anthony revealed that she is ready to switch her loyalties the minute Kiyan is drafted:

“I’m sorry I’m going where my kid goes!” Anthony said. “Wherever my kid is at, that’s who I’m rooting for.
“It’s different when it’s your kid. It’s just a whole different ball game. It feels like a brand new journey that I’m going on with him," she added.
