WATCH: LSU's Flau'jae Johnson becomes BET's 'Amplified Artist of the Month' in an NIL deal with Nissan

Flau'jae Johnson is not just winning on the court, but off it as well. Earlier today, she was named the BET Amplified Artist of the Month for October, an achievement that demonstrates her emergence as an upcoming musician.

Automobile giant Nissan teamed up with BET for the BET Amplified initiative, which discover some of the best rising talent in the field of music. Johnson becomes the latest to earn this distinction, joining names like Ayra Starr and Connie Diamond.

In a video uploaded by BET, Johnson showed gratitude for the achievement while giving a glimpse into her basketball skills. She revealed how her father, known rapper Camouflage, inspired her to pursue rapping.

"What inspired me to start rapping was my father," said Johnson. "He was a good rapper, he had a record deal and everything. Once I found that out, I was like, 'Mom, I want to be a rap star too'.
"I'm just speaking what I feel into the mic and it's resonating with so many other people."

Flau'jae Johnson links her passion for music to basketball

At the start of the clip, uploaded by BET to Instagram, Flau'jae Johnson revealed how finding rhythm is the key to success in her basketball career. She then gave an inspirational piece of advice at the end of the clip.

"Ever since I could walk, I loved basketball. When you're bouncing the ball, or shooting the ball, it's all type of rhythm that goes into it.
"If you master the same thing over and over again, you can achieve anything."

Flau'jae Johnson is arguably one of the most popular athletes in women's college basketball today. Besides featuring among the top-5 NIL earners, she also has a massive fan following on social media, with her music videos earning her immense fame on YouTube.

As of today, Johnson has over 230,000 subscribers on YouTube. The music video of her song, 'Came Out a Beast', featuring Lil' Wayne, has already amassed over 2 million views in just over six weeks since its launch.

Flau'jae Johnson made headlines on the court during her freshman season, playing a key role in the LSU Tigers' run to their maiden national championship title. She won the SEC Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2023.

After a strong sophomore season, Johnson will look to maintain her momentum in her junior season. The Tigers will begin the 2024-25 season on November 4 with a home game against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels.
