WATCH: NBA legend Carmelo Anthony’s video of training young son Kiyan Anthony resurfaces on the internet

Kiyan Anthony, son of NBA great Carmelo Anthony, is in his senior year of high school and is also preparing for his transition to college. The 6-foot-5 shooting guard has been on the rise in the rankings with his incredible performances in circuit basketball this summer and spring. He was named the No. 1 recruit in New York recently.

With this rising attention, an old video of the father-son duo is quickly going viral on X. The clip, posted by fan Big Knick Energy, shows a young Kiyan learning Carmelo Anthony's signature move, the jab step. The former New York Knicks veteran often employed this move to shake off defenders and finish his midrange jumper.

Watch the video below:

Kiyan Anthony shared in 2023 that he sometimes trains with his father and that Melo is not easy on him during these sessions.

“He doesn’t go easy on me,” Kiyan said (via Yahoo Sports). “If I were to mess up, he’ll get on me. He just wants me to be great and I don’t take it personal or anything like that. When we start to play one-on-one, he’ll guard me real aggressive just so I can feel what the next-level strength is like.
"He was in the league for 20 years, so he goes hard against me just so I can feel the forearm, how strong he is with the ball, just so I can be ready."

Will Kiyan Anthony follow in his father's footsteps?

With the upcoming senior season, Kiyan Anthony has an important decision to make about his college future. In July, the guard revealed his top six schools. It included Carmelo's alma mater, Syracuse Orange, along with Rutgers, USC, Ohio State, Florida State and Auburn.

While fans are excited to see Kiyan sport the same orange jersey as his father, the 17-year-old is more level-headed about his choice. He told Yahoo Sports last year:

"I feel like everyone does think I’m going to go to Syracuse, but that’s not the case. Syracuse is definitely an option and a school I like, but I’m going to go to the best place for me."

However, during his announcement of the shortlisted schools, Kiyan Anthony spoke more positively about the possibility of playing for the Orange.

"I just like the atmosphere, you know, obviously my dad went there 20-something years ago, so I just like the atmosphere, I like the family environment," Anthony told ZagsBlog.
"The coaches, I feel like they're recruiting me for myself, and not just because of my father. That's what I like. I just feel like they're rebuilding and they're looking to get a winning team. I feel like I can help them do that if I was to go there."

Fans are now eager to see Carmelo on the sidelines of JMA Wireless Dome, hopefully cheering his son leading Syracuse to an NCAA championship just like he did in 2003.
