Watch: Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles in pain after suffering nasty ankle roll vs UConn 

Olivia Miles had an injury scare during Notre Dame's game against UConn on Thursday. While she returned to the court, the incident left her in a lot of pain in the moment.

Four minutes into the opening quarter against the No. 2 Huskies, Miles was on the defensive side of the ball as she fell to the hardwood after rolling her ankle. Getting back up, she limped to the sideline as medical staff treated her foot.

Fortunately for Miles, she returned to the game less than 10 minutes later as the injury turned out to be minor. As of halftime, the Fighting Irish have a 39-28 lead with Miles scoring five points after 14 minutes of action.

Olivia Miles has suffered injuries before in her career

This wouldn't be the first time Olivia Miles suffered an injury during her collegiate career with Notre Dame.

In the regular season finale of the 2022-23 season, she tore her ACL and subsequently wound up missing the entirety of the following campaign. Before going down with the injury, she averaged 14.3 points, 6.9 assists, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.1 steals per game that season.

She made her anticipated return in Notre Dame's season-opener against Mercyhurst to begin the 2024-25 season. After nine games, she is putting up 17.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 6.6 apg and 1.6 spg on 54.8% shooting from the field and 46.2% from beyond the arc. Most of these numbers are career highs for the junior guard, showcasing a high level after successfully recovering from a torn ACL.

Her performances have helped the Fighting Irish get off to a 7-2 start to the season. They are scoring 85.8 ppg on 46.8% shooting overall and 38.2% from downtown while limiting opponents to 63 ppg on 35.4% shooting from the field and 27.1% from 3.

Mainly playing a seven-player rotation, Miles is second on the team in scoring behind Hannah Hidalgo. Hidalgo leads the way with 24.6 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 4.1 spg and 3.3 apg while Sonia Citron has provided 14.9 ppg, 6.4 rpg and 2.5 apg. Furthermore, Liatu King has put up a double-double of 12.1 ppg and 11.0 rpg.

After the game against No. 2 UConn, Olivia Miles and No. 8 Notre Dame host Eastern Michigan next at Purcell Pavilion in South Bend, Indiana, on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
