Days after unveiling his #10 jersey for Michigan, Justin Pippen appeared to showcase a new NIL collaboration with streaming technology company Roku. The 19-year-old recently picked the Wolverines to be his collegiate program over Stanford, Florida, Texas A&M and California.
Scottie Pippen's son shared an Instagram reel to flex his partnership with the brand, portraying it as a crucial part of his morning routine that he uses to watch games before heading to practice.
"GRWM for basketball practice @rokuplayer #rokupartner," Pippen captioned the video.
Justin Pippen showcased his partnership with Roku in front of his 83,000 followers on Instagram. He has a 129th-ranked NIL valuation, according to On3.
Pippen recorded a separate video for Roku, which he posted on his Instagram story. The video features the products the streaming technology brand sent to Pippen, including a scented candle and a water bottle.
Roku has strong ties with the NCAA, serving as a sponsor for the March Madness Live app, which allows fans to watch the annual tournament on multiple devices.
The brand has also helped promote women’s sports over the years through its original series called The Roku Women's Sports Minute, which highlights certain moments and trivia across multiple sports. Last year, Roku launched a feature on its platform called Women's Sports Zone for easy access to multiple sports.
Justin Pippen considered other programs before picking Michigan
Michigan’s pursuit of Justin Pippen came late in his recruiting cycle. He had been choosing between California, Florida, Texas A&M and Stanford before the Wolverines expressed interest.
Michigan’s offer to Pippen came in April 2024. The process began with a Zoom call between him and coach Dusty May, who had just taken over Michigan’s coaching role less than a month ago.
May’s vision for Pippen as an on-ball and off-ball player, along with the promise of sharing the court with other talented players, convinced him to plan a visit. As a result, Pippen announced his commitment to the Wolverines within days of touring the campus.
The guard enters the college basketball circuit with the aim of reaching the big league. He believes that May's leadership and Michigan's name will help him achieve this goal.
